specializing in custom designed headstones and grave
markers.

Dealing with the passing of a loved one is always hard.
We just hope that we can help a little by making the
process of marking a grave a little easier by treating
customers with love, respect and friendliness.
Pioneer Rock and Monument has been in business since 1985. We opened the business out of our garage,and saw a steady stream of orders. In 2002 the business moved into a new 2000 square foot shop, better able to handle the increasing business. In 2004 our son Ben joined the team.
In 2007 we began selling stones through the Internet. Since then we've shipped headstones to three countries and forty-eight states. In 2013 our daughter-in-law Marintha began learning the trade along with their daughters, Taylor and Taryn, making Pioneer Rock & Monument a family business consisting of three generations.
Most monument shops are retailers, and do not
manufacture the stones themselves. At Pioneer Rock
and Monument, on the other hand, we make each stone
in our own shop.
Our shop is located in Goldendale, Washington, about
2 hours east of Portland, Oregon. We have had
customers drive from as far north as Alaska, as far east
as South Dakota and as far south as Las Vegas in order
to purchase a stone from us. Careful study of the stones
featured in our Gallery reveals a special skill and an
artistic flare not seen in many other monument shops.

Cross-Country Help
I cannot say enough good things about Kris and her team at Pioneer Rock and Monument. This small, local business is both nimble and responsive, staffed by people who made me feel like I was working with a much larger operation. What I expected to be a difficult process was instead a smooth transaction and was somewhat enjoyable (as much as ordering a gravestone can be). Kris shared numerous designs with me as she distilled my ideas and wishes to create a memorial befitting my late father. I live on the East Coast and had to do most of my order through emails and phone calls. Despite being across the country, I was treated as if I was just down the street. Kris even went the extra mile by visiting the cemetery plot where the stone will be placed to ensure the stone would fit. Thanks to her extra leg work, we learned that a smaller stone would be needed. Without missing a beat, Kris and her team adjusted my ideas into a smaller stone that looks fantastic. Throughout this transaction, the communication was thorough and gave me confidence that I was working with true professionals. I am very pleased with the final headstone and I recommend Pioneer Rock and Monument without reservation.
